Congratulations to our winners: team Bog Rolls and Bun Trays! The name isn’t as random as previously thought; all team members are from the Cleaning and Catering Category team, consisting of Dan Baugh, Dan Parker, Andy Pickernell and Kathrin Kruse.

It was a close call though, with a tie-break scenario between 3 teams. We won’t name and shame the losing team who took home the wooden spoon!

With a very successful turnout of 17 teams and a well prized raffle, we raised £250 for Build Africa.

The golfing reputations of a number of employees and suppliers were on the line during a very sunny day in early October, at the Castle Combe Golf Course. It was competitive stuff! Thanks to a great turnout, raffles, competitions and auctions, we raised a fantastic £2330…not bad for a day’s work.

The overall individual winner of the day was The Consortium’s Steve Gardiner (Warehouse Manager). The winning team was Mike Gahan (Finance Director, The Consortium), Graham Campbell (Kit for Kids), Ron Davies (Kit for Kids) and Neil Johnston (Pilot Pens). A big thank you to all who participated and donated throughout the day – a great success!

The successful chaps, all from the Warehouse were; John Butterworth, Ian Huntley, John Owen and Simon Earley took the prize – a ticket each to a race meet of their choice at Bath Racecourse – with a grand score of 66 points. Second place went to Blunders Never Cease whose team consisted of Julia & David Betteridge and Simon & Nicole Cox. The wooden spoon went to the IT Crowd with just 29 points!

The event, held at the Wesley Road Club in Trowbridge attracted 17 teams and took on a Back to School theme.

A raffle was also held with the top prizes of a Spa Day for 2 at Whatley Manor, Malmesbury going to Alison Strickland (Warehouse) and a Nintendo Wii for Caroline Bovey (Customer Services).

A great night was had by all and more importantly we raised £498.10 towards our Build Africa school project.

I’m sure you will have noticed that weather wise we’ve not had the best July so far, however on Friday we were delighted to see that Saturday’s forecast was one of sun! We thought it was the ideal opportunity to ramp up support for our BBQ Hamper raffle in aid of Build Africa. We eventually raised a £120 – not bad for an afternoon’s work!

The next Consortium fundraising event will be on Friday 14th August when we will encourage staff to wear a football top and donate a £1 for the privilege. The date will coincide with the kick off of the new Premier League on the Saturday.

Our grand total now stands at £15,629.88.
